Today, the following important information was released from the CEO of FFA, James Johnson. The distribution comes in conjunction with Football Tasmania to provide an update on the resumption of football activity in Tasmania.
Many of you are no doubt aware of the significant government announcement last Friday regarding the gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions. In the next phase, from Monday 18 May, indoor and outdoor gatherings can increase to 10 people. This correlates to Level B of the AIS Framework for Rebooting Sport in a COVID-19 Environment and so understandably, many people in our football community were hoping and expecting to get underway with small-group training next week.
Football Tasmania shares the desire to see people get back on the pitch but before we do, Football Tasmania needs to have our ‘Return to Training’ plan considered and approved by Sport & Recreation and the Department of Health. This is happening as we speak, and we hope that we’ll be able to move forward very soon.
Further information about what will be required from everyone involved in our sport will be provided in the coming days, however until then please note that the suspension of all football activity remains in place until you are advised otherwise by Football Tasmania and/or your club.
